The Information Security area of interest includes protection of the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information while it is in storage, processing or transmission through the application of policy, education & training, and technology. The Information Security area of interest addresses the needs of area employers to find IS employees skilled in the protection of information through Information Security policy development, disaster recovery and incident response planning. Graduates of this area of interest will be prepared to guide employers through technical aspects of information protection, and the managerial, legal and ethical aspects of the mission-critical information carrying systems that organizations rely on for day-to-day operations. This area of interest will accomplish the program's objectives by preparing graduates to take jobs as security professionals such as Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs), security managers, and security administrators - all fields with high demand.
